Standing Cedars Workshop

Standing Cedars is a small studio that specializes in building unique structures, and compact, environmentally conscious, mobile, and healthy living spaces, using the best quality, sustainable materials. David Aichinger was born in the Twin Cities and moved to Osceola nearly ten years ago. He grew up in a family that loved the outdoors, working with their hands, hiking, and camping. He built and shares Standing Cedars Workshop and Studio with his life partner and fellow artist, Jessica Turtle, founder of the Natural Heritage Art Center, also located in Osceola. David is a third generation woodworker, mosaic tile artist, CAD designer, and tinkerer. A born problem solver, he can find the solution to Analog puzzles in minutes, but recently got demolished in chess by his 15-year-old son, Joe. When David is not working with wood, he enjoys hiking and camping on the North Shore; canoeing on the St. Croix River; leading a local scout troop; snow sculpting; going deep into the Boundary Waters; exploring State and National Parks around the country; making maple syrup; foraging for mushrooms; eating delicious food; goofing around with his nieces and nephew; and kicking back with friends with a cold beer by the campfire.
